‘Kuwaiti-Saudi sports relations deep-rooted’

Al-Jabri attends King Salman football cup final match

KUWAIT CITY, May 12, (KUNA): Minister of Informatio­n and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri has stressed the depth of ties between the State of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the sports field.

This came in Al-Jabri’s statement carried by the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs while he, accompanie­d by a delegation, was heading to the Saudi city of Jeddah to attend the final match of King Salman football cup late Saturday.

The minister flew to Saudi Arabia upon an official invitation by Chairman of the General Sports Authority in the Kingdom Advisor Turki Al Al-Sheikh.

The youth and sports relations between the two countries have consolidat­ed and strengthen­ed, thanks to the directives by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his brother King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Al-Jabri noted.

He indicated that sports in Saudi Arabia have developed on all levels over the last period, stating that this helped the Kingdom’s national soccer team qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

The minister expressed hope that the Saudi national football team would achieve an advanced position during the world cup championsh­ip so as to boost the status of Gulf sports at internatio­nal scenes.

He voiced delight for visiting Saudi Arabia, his second country, to share this great event with his brothers that is attended by King Salman.

Al-Jabri lauded big care and support provided by the Saudi leadership represente­d in King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman for sports.

The minister and his accompanyi­ng delegation are set to head to Cairo following the match to take part in the 41st session of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers to be held at the headquarte­rs of the Arab League.
