Cabinet appoints 6 Municipal Council members
KUWAIT CITY, May 14, (KUNA): Kuwait Cabinet Monday assigned Ministry of Health to coordinate with government authorities to speed up provision of medications and medical equipment for patients.
The ministry should accelerate measures to agree with drug companies to provide necessary medicine and equipment as soon as possible, Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said in a statement after a Cabinet meeting, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The Cabinet also assigned the supreme planning and development council to coordinate with Ministries of health and finance to place a strategy for medicine and medical equipment.
This strategy, said Al-Saleh, should contribute to rapid provision of patients’ needs without any delay.
Meanwhile, His Highness the Prime Minister instructed launch of legal measures against any person violating the conflict-of-interest law, he said.
Relevant authorities should prepare a media campaign to raise awareness about the details of the law and its objectives, said AlSaleh.

On the other hand, the Cabinet congratulated Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Bekheet Al-Rashidi, and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh for winning the parliament’s confidence in the wake of their interpellation.
His Highness the Prime Minister also instructed formation of a neutral committee to study issues of the grilling against Al-Rashidi. This committee should submit recommendations in two months.
The Cabinet congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people for the advent of holy month of Ramadhan.
The government also commemorated the 55th anniversary of Kuwait’s UN membership, saying Kuwait has always called for peace and cooperation among nations, respect of human rights and helping the needy.
The Cabinet recalled that the UN named His Highness the Amir a Humanitarian Leader and Kuwait a Humanitarian Center in appreciation of philanthropic contributions.
Kuwait’s UN membership anniversary coincided with the country’s 2018-19 non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
Meanwhile, the government appointed Monday six members in the Municipal Council following the election of 10 members last Saturday.
The government, in its weekly session chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, approved appointment of Osama Al-Otaibi, Humoud Al-Enezi, Abdulsalam Al-Randi, Abdulwahhab Burusly, Mishal Al-Hamdhan and Maha Al-Baghli.
The Cabinet approved the appointment decree and referred it to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas AlSaleh said in a statement.
The Cabinet commended judges, and officials in ministries of interior, education, information and health as well as General Fire Services Directorate and Kuwait Municipality for their efforts throughout the election, said AlSaleh.
Municipal elections were held two days ago and 10 members were elected, representing 10 constituencies.
Hassan Kamal won 2,099 votes out of 17,997 eligible voters in the first constituency.
Abdullah Al-Mehri won 3,550 votes out of 24,537 eligible voters in the second constituency.
Abdulaziz Al-Mejel won 1,985 votes out of 30,651 eligible voters in the third constituency.
Hamad Al-Medlej got 4,108 votes out of 75,560 eligible voters in the fourth constituency.
Abdullah Al-Roumi won 5,336 votes out of 36,722 eligible voters in the fifth constituency.
Fheid Al-Rashidi won 7,329 votes out of 50,247 eligible voters in the sixth constituency.
Mohammad Al-Mutairi won 8,480 votes out of 58,479 eligible voters in the seventh constituency.
Ahmad Al-Enezi won 8,109 votes out of 77,614 eligible voters in the eighth constituency.
Ali Al-Azmi won 8,702 votes out of 70,277 eligible voters in the ninth constituency.
Hamdi Al-Azmi got 10,755 votes out of 78,552 eligible voters in the 10th constituency.
A total of 73 candidates, including one female, stood for the elections that ran smoothly and orderly at 102 polling stations countrywide.
Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) affirmed Monday willingness to provide all facilitations for Bahrain’s companies, and overcome all obstacles facing them in launching joint projects with Kuwaiti companies.
Kuwait and Bahrain share a historic relationship, KCCI’s Chairman Ali Al-Ghanim, said while meeting with the Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Sameer Nass and his accompanying delegation at KCCI’s headquarters.
The meeting aims to boost Kuwaiti-Bahraini commercial and investment ties, he said, adding the Bahraini visit is also part of the continued communication between the two countries to address modern necessities and requirements.
Al-Ghanim also pointed out the meeting’s importance in attaining economic integration between Kuwait and Bahrain under the GCC system framework.
Exchanging visits and strengthening bilateral ties add an additional value to the two countries’ business partnership and bolsters their revenues, said the KCCI’s chief.
For his part, Nass lauded KCCI’s pioneering role in boosting its economic relationship with the Kingdom, in addition to its constant positive cooperation with BCCI.
The available potential in both countries allow for wider aspects of mutual commercial and investment cooperation, he noted.
Nass also expressed his hope that efforts continue toward facilitating commercial exchange and creating an appropriate environment for Bahraini and Kuwaiti businesspersons.
