KUWAIT CITY, May 16: The latest move by Kuwait to bridge the gap between the Gulf states has not succeeded in opening a window in the wall of crisis which is nearing one year, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Gulf diplomatic sources.
The sources pointed out the Kuwaiti message to the GCC leaders is a vision on the need to unite in the face of challenges and to work within the framework of openness and transparency.
The sources added the Kuwaiti move is aimed at placing the initiative in the hands of the Gulf states and not in the hands of the United States of America or other friendly Western countries, with full respect for their assistance.
The sources added the solution that comes from within the four walls of the House is less costly, whatever the concessions between brothers because external solutions may impose obligations of security and economic alliances, which may expose our countries and our communities to material exhaustions, in addition to political commitments which may not necessarily be consistent with the directions of the Gulf states.
The sources described the situation in the region as “totally unnatural”. High risks are predicted especially after political earthquake following the cancellation of the nuclear pact with
Iran and the regional expansion plan, whether in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria or Yemen.
“These burning situations — according to Kuwait’s vision — put the Gulf states under obligation to unite against such challenges.
The sources said the daily has detailed the actions and responses and the media and some foreign interventions still play a role in the ‘survival’ of the crisis. The four countries boycotting Qatar (Saudi Arabia, the UAE,
Bahrain, and Egypt) consider the reasons for the boycott still exist and nothing has changed.
To the contrary, Qatar believes these countries are not ready to accept any step taken by Doha to water down the crisis.
The sources concluded by saying, everyone respects the role of Kuwait and its mission and the serious vision of the dangers that are afflicting the region, and therefore Kuwait’s role will continue.
