Huge ‘quantity’ of liquor seized in sting operation
Kuwaiti’s body found; Asian in suicide bid

KUWAIT CITY, May 16: Three expatriates were nabbed by antinarcotics men in possession of 171 boxes of imported liquor.
Apparently, the Drug Control general Department received information about the activities of an expatriate who traded in alcohol. Acting on information, a team of detectives was formed to bring the suspect to book.
In the meantime, an undercover agent sealed a deal with the suspect to supply 171 boxes of the contraband.
He was arrested alongside two aides upon delivery of the items. They all confessed to peddling in liquor and have been referred to the concerned authority.
Drug peddler held:
Police have arrested a Sri Lankan for trafficking in marijuana after three attempts to mislead a police agent, reports AlRai daily.
After acting on a tip-off police agent agreed with the Sri Lankan to buy a quantity of marijuana, but the suspect changed the place of delivery two times but he was caught during the third attempt.
Police then raided the well-furnished and luxurious apartment of the suspect and seized one kilo of marijuana.
During interrogation the suspect admitted to making a lot of cash over a period of one year.
The contraband and the suspect have been referred to the General
Department for Drugs Control.
Kuwaiti found dead:
The remains of a Kuwaiti believed to be in his 60s have been referred to the Forensics to identify the cause of death, reports Al-Anba daily.
A security source said the partly decomposed body of the victim was found inside an apartment in Salmiya.
Police after getting permission from the Public Prosecutor forced open the door when neighbors complained of bad odor.
Initial Forensics report showed the man had died a few days ago.
Suicide attempted:
An Asian expatriate identified as Rumman tried to commit suicide by swallowing pesticide in Fahaheel area. He was given a stomach wash and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Adan Hospital,
says Al-Seyassah.
Investigation with the friends of Rumman indicated he was found unconscious on the floor with the pesticide beside him.
A case was registered and legal action will be taken against him when he’s out of intensive care.
Verdict annulled:
The Criminal Court has annulled its verdict which was issued in absentia against an Iranian working in the oil sector, reports Al-Anba daily.
He was sentenced for allegedly leaking a letter of the Minister of Oil to his Saudi counterpart with regard to the Al-Khafji oilfield through Twitter which could harm the relations between both countries.
However, without going into details the daily said the man has been acquitted of the charge.
