KUWAIT CITY, June 9: With temperatures rising to about 48 degrees Celsius, the indicators of electricity loads on Thursday recorded a big number compared to the load rates during the past days.

The indicator of electricity loads at 2:30 pm on Thursday reached about 13,600MW, a difference of about 200MW from the highest load registered last year, which had reached about 13,800MW. The total production is about 16,000 MW.

Sources from Ministry of Electricity and Water attributed the increase in electricity load to high temperatures currently in the country which have in turn contributed to the significant increase in demand for electricity and water.

They explained that higher loads to maximum rates are mainly dependent on the temperature. The demand for water has also witnessed a rise in the consumption rates whereby indicators showed higher consumption rate exceeding that of production. Consumption amounted to about 461 million imperial gallons compared to the production of 456 million imperial gallons with a difference of 5 million.

Director of the Center for Ten Quranic Readings at Al-Khateeb Mosque in Ahmadi Dr Sa’ad Al-Jad’an affirmed the center hosted 30 readers from the Muslim world in the Holy Month of Ramadan, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Dr Al-Jad’an noted the readers exhibited mastery of the ten readings while leading prayers during Taraweeh and night prayers. He disclosed the center plans to step up the level of educating people on the Quranic readings, saying this is necessary because most people are used to only one style and ignorant of others. He stressed the center welcomed the last ten days of Ramadan with an excellent program, and that four other expert readers from Yemen will be hosted.
