Eid Al-Fitr on Friday

KUWAIT CITY, June 14, (KUNA): Kuwait’s crescent sighting authority announced on Thursday that the first day of Eid Al-Fitr begins on Friday.

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, head of the authority and chairman of Supreme Judicial Council Judge Youssef Al-Mutawa said that the crescent

of Shawwal, the month that comes after the Holy Month of Ramadan, was observed Thursday.

He congratula­ted His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness the Prime Minister, the Kuwaitis and expatriate­s as well as Arab and Muslim nations on this great occasion, wishing the dear homeland further progress and prosperity.

In a speech after the conference, Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Fahad AlAfasi also congratula­ted His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness the Prime Minister, the Kuwaiti people and expatriate­s on the Eid.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain and Jordan also declared that Eid Al-Fitr begins in their countries on Friday.

Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah on Thursday exchanged cables of congratula­tions with leaders and kings of Arab and Islamic states on advent of Eid Al-Fitr.

His Highness the Amir addressed heartfelt greetings to the leaders hop-

ing for prosperity, security and stability for the Arab and Muslim nations.

His Highness the Amir on Thursday received a cable of congratula­tions from His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah on advent of Eid Al-Fitr.

His Highness the Amir also received cables of congratula­tions on advent of Eid Al-Fitr from the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, the National Guard Chief, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Yousef Al-Mutawa, President of the Constituti­onal Court and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, wishing him good health and Kuwaitis glory, progress and prosperity under the leadership of His Highness the Amir. On his part, His Highness the Amir replied in cables, thanking them for their kind feelings and wishing everyone in Kuwait and the Arab and Muslim nations a happy Eid.

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) extends greetings to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, citizens and residents on advent of Eid Al-Fitr.

The national news agency wishes the happy Eid may recur amid prosperity and heavenly blessings for the Arab and Muslim nations.
