Sev­eral mea­sures ex­e­cuted at air­port ahead of Eid hol­i­days

New ser­vices in­clude au­to­mated bag­gage check, cre­ation of 2 halls

KUWAIT CITY, June 14: The Di­rec­torate Gen­eral of Civil Avi­a­tion (DGCA) has em­barked on sev­eral mea­sures ahead of sum­mer va­ca­tion and Eid Al-Fitr hol­i­day to make the jour­ney easy for pas­sen­gers depart­ing and ar­riv­ing, and also re­duce the rate of pres­sure and con­ges­tion at Kuwait In­ter­na­tional Air­port, re­ports Al-Qabas daily.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­cent re­port, mea­sures im­ple­mented in­clude the ap­proval of au­to­matic bag­gage check, cre­ation of two halls; the first hall for the is­suance of visas and the sec­ond one for tran­sit pas­sen­gers, in­tro­duc­tion of home de­liv­ery ser­vice for pas­sen­ger lug­gage, and in­stal­la­tion of new gad­gets for bag­gage check.

Re­port in­di­cated many im­prove­ments in air­port ser­vices to re­duce the bur­den on Ter­mi­nal 1 (T1). Among the ma­jor mech­a­nisms con­tained in the re­port is to cut down ad­di­tional flights and in­crease the sizes of air­craft, cit­ing the in­au­gu­ra­tion of T5 for Al-Jazeera Air­ways to re­duce bur­den on T1 by 15 per­cent with op­er­a­tional ca­pa­bil­ity of about 2.5 mil­lion pas­sen­gers per an­num.

The sup­port ter­mi­nal (T4) will also be op­er­a­tional for Kuwait Air­ways at the rate of 4.5 mil­lion pas­sen­gers an­nu­ally, pos­si­bly start­ing from July 25.

The new air­port ser­vices in­clude early check-in of lug­gage for Kuwait Air­ways and Al-Jazeera Air­ways pas­sen­gers, as­sign­ing 2018 sum­mer sup­port staff to as­sist pas­sen­gers and DGCA staff in or­ga­niz­ing move­ments.

It also in­cludes creat­ing new coun­ters for in­for­ma­tion and pas­sen­ger ser­vices at the lug­gage weigh­ing zones, in ad­di­tion to the in­stal­la­tion of self check-in de­vices.

The Con­stituent Gen­eral Assem­bly of the Work­ers Union in the Pub­lic Au­thor­ity for Man­power elected Fa­had Al-Osaimi as chair­per­son of the union and Ab­dul­lah Al-Mu­tairi as his deputy, re­ports Al-Shahid daily.

The elec­tion took place dur­ing the first meet­ing of the union at the head­quar­ters of the Govern­men­tal Sec­tor Work­ers Union.

The union af­firmed its com­mit­ment to de­mand for salary in­cre­ment, guar­an­tee equal­ity in pro­mo­tions, and pro­tect the rights of work­ers.
