KU accepts 6,186 Kuwaiti undergrads for 2018-’19 academic year: official
MoE issues decision on conditions for excellent job bonus
KUWAIT CITY, July 7, (KUNA): Kuwait University announced it had accepted 6,186 Kuwaitis across its various undergraduate programmes for the 2018-19 academic year, including 5,209 and 977 in the first and second semesters respectively.
This number does not include those receiving overseas and homebound state-sponsored scholarships, the public university’s acting head of registration Reem Al-Jarallah said in a statement.
As for those wishing to register from private English language schools, she urged them to hand in their original graduation certificates no less than two working days after receiving the document. Competition for places was fair and non-discriminatory in regards to gender, she added, after applicants achieved the minimum grades required.
The first semester is expected to commence on Jan 27, next year.

Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Hamed Al-Azmi issued a decision on the conditions for
receiving excellent job performance bonus, reports Al-Rai daily.
The conditions include working period of at least two years in the ministry or other public institutions. This is applicable to personnel in schools and institutions including teachers and administrative staff who were appointed before Sept 5, 2016; as well as employees assigned in the headquarters of the ministry, relevant directorates, public directorates, central directorate and educational districts who were appointed before Jan 1, 2016.
The employee must obtain excellent marks in the performance evaluation report for the applicable year and should not have been subjected to disciplinary action unless cleared as per the regulations of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) or a court verdict.
The decision specified the number of working days after deducting days off, vacation and sick leaves to be 180 days for administrative employees assigned in the headquarters of the ministry, relevant directorates, public directorate, central
directorate and educational districts.
For employees covered by CSC decision number 5/1980 (teachers in schools, institutes and kindergartens), the minimum number of working days is 127 for those employed in kindergartens, 130 days for those in primary and preparatory schools, and 139 days for those in secondary schools.
On the years of experience, those who were re-appointed or signed new contracts are treated as new employees; while those who were referred to the Legal Affairs Directorate should wait for the final results of investigations to decide whether they deserve the bonus or not.
An employee found to be ineligible for the bonus has the right to complain within 60 days from the day of disbursement of the bonus. Complaints should be submitted online through the website of the ministry. An employee is not allowed to receive other incentives for excellent job performance stipulated in other organizing decisions aside from the excellent performance bonus he received from the institution
