PACI wins global award for creative ‘Geographic Informatio­n System’

‘Kuwaiti expertise helped in gaining this prize’

KUWAIT CITY, July 10, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Informatio­n (PACI) has won a global award for its creative Geographic Informatio­n System (GIF).

The award was delivered by the founder and owner of the world’s largest (GIS) company (ESRI) Jack Dangermond, to the Director Manager of (PACI) Musaad Al-Asousi during a conference held in San Diego, United States from July 9 — 13 with more than 18,000 participan­ts from all around the world.

The award is an evidence of the successful PACI’s efforts in developing and using advanced technology such as (Machine Learning) and (Artificial Intelligen­ce), said Al-Asousi in a phone call with KUNA.

The efforts of Kuwaiti expertise in this field helped in gaining this award which will motivate other government­al sectors to improve services provided to both citizens and residents, Al-Asousi added.

The Geographic Informatio­n System (GIS) is a system that helps (PACI) to do its role in more effective manner by using the best and latest technologi­es in connecting maps with data of buildings and entities registered in the civil informatio­n systems, he said.

The system facilitate­s identifica­tion of all types of government­al, commercial, service building, and residentia­l units, as well as agricultur­al, industrial, sports building and others by simply providing the detailed address or part of it or entering the automatic address number.

Al-Asousi affirmed that the applicatio­n benefits (PACI) and other government agencies due to the expanded scope of maps covered by the program.
