No legal action taken as female workers ‘absent’ since one year
Hashash lawyer denies charges
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: While the Director General of the Kuwait Municipality, Engineer Ahmad Al-Manfouhi stressed on the need to control the process of attendance in various departments of the Municipality, and take legal action against those who are absent from work, an official source revealed there has been widespread tampering data with the fingerprint attendance system covering 35 employees in one of the branches of the Municipality, reports Al-Rai daily.
The source explained the female employees have been absent from work for more than a year and that no legal or administrative action had been taken against them. The source also said their names are not recorded in the attendance statements and annual leave in a clear sign of nepotism.
The source wondered if the Kuwait Municipality head office will spell out their names as part of annual assessment of the staff efficiency report.
Charges denied: Attorney Dalal Al-Mulla denied news that her client Adel Al-Hashash admitted the charges against him in the case known as transgression on public money in the Hospitality Department of the Interior Ministry, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Mulla said the news is baseless and it is not within the jurisdiction of the detention renewal judge to conduct an investigation with the defendants, as this is the role of the Public Prosecution.
Al-Mulla also denied that her client pledged to return the money, adding that how can he return such amount at a time he denied the charges.
Nepali maid beaten: When police received a report of murder attempt in Hadiya, securitymen sent to the house found a Nepali maid lying on the floor bleeding from the head, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Police said, according to the testimony of the maid, she was hit on the head with a hard object by her sponsor’s son, who is now in police custody.
The Al-Anba daily said when the housemaid filed a complaint with police accusing the young man of hitting her on the head with a hard object, the family denied the accusation and said the son was defending her mother when the housemaid attacked her.
Police investigations are continuing.
Violation of rule of law: The Ministry of Health is looking into the issue of how an expatriate doctor was appointed legal adviser allegedly after the documents had been falsified by senior officials including a senior secretary of a ministry, reports Annahar daily.
The sources confirmed the ministry has discovered falsification in official documents to facilitate the appointment of the expatriate.
The ministry pointed out it will check the documents that passed through the hands of these employees before referring the file to the Public Prosecution.
‘Wrong’ decisions: Although all the military personnel in the Interior Ministry are comrades-inarms and are unified through patriotism, defense and protection of citizens and expatriates; some decisions do not serve public interests, reports Al-Shahid daily.
The GCC military personnel in the Interior Ministry are not covered by the police fund, while their indemnity is calculated based on the initial salary so their end-ofservice pay is very low compared to their counterparts in the Ministry of Defense whose indemnity is based on the last salary.
Fire in apartment: Fire engulfed a two-bedroom apartment in a residential building consisting of eight floors in Reggae.
In a press statement, the Public Relations Department at Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) revealed that firefighters from Shuwaikh Industrial Area Fire Station and Ardiya Fire Station rushed to the location after the Operations Unit received information on the incident and as per the directive of Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al-Fadala.
The firefighters evacuated the building and then extinguished the fire in record time. No causalities were recorded.
