Kuwait determined to ‘honour’ Amir’s renewable energy vision
CITRA, Amazon sign MoU on cooperation
MARRAKECH, Morocco, Oct 2, (KUNA): Kuwait is determined to honor His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s vision to provide 15 percent of domestic’s electricity from renewable energy by 2035, a senior official said Monday.
Sheikh Talal Nasser AlSabah, Oil Ministry’s Acting Undersecretary, said Kuwait was pursuing His Highness the Amir’s vision through clear energy projects.
He was speaking to KUNA on sidelines of the Arab Energy Conference, held in Marrakech.
Sheikh Talal said the delegation of Kuwait was highlighting His Highness the Amir’s vision and related mega projects like Al-Zour Refinery which would produce 615,000 barrels per day (bpd), the petrochemicals complex, the Shaqaya renewable energy and Debdebah solar energy project.
Sheikh Abdullah Ahmad AlSabah, Director General of Kuwait Environment Public Authority (EPA), said Kuwait could benefit from Arab energy expertise specially the renewable energy ones.
Conferees
He said conferees would discuss promising clean-energy project, waste recycling and wind energy.
Kuwait, said Sheikh Abdullah, was producing 6-7 percent of clear energy.
Meanwhile, the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority and Amazon Web Services (AWS) were putting frameworks and policies for cloud service to develop egovernment services in Kuwait, CITRA said in a statement Monday.
CITRA said it was coordinating with Amazon to organize workshops inside Kuwait to provide solutions for the government sector in general, the health and educational sectors in particular, to provide state-of-art e-services for public.
CITRA and Amazon signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, on sidelines of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah’s visit to Washington last month.
The MoU will contribute to digital transformation of Kuwait thus honoring 2035 vision.
The agreement will help promote development of cloud service that would enhance the performance of the government bodies.
