‘Kuwait committed to UN’s sustainable progress goals’
Pledge to eradicate poverty
NEW YORK, Oct 10, (KUNA): Kuwait on Wednesday said that it fully backs the UN’s sustainable development goals and will do its part to see those plans come to fruition.
The remarks were made by Kuwaiti secretary Abdullah Al-Sharrah, who is part of the Gulf state’s delegation to the second UN General Assembly.
He said that the UN’s secretary general has introduced various measures to support his vision of a sustainable future, which includes efforts to eradicate poverty and boost global development.
“We remain steadfast in our pledge to achieve all of the UN’s sustainable development goals by the year 2030,” the Kuwaiti official said.
He emphasized that Kuwait has held up its end of the bargain with its contributions towards sustainable development, which is a testament to the country’s desire to remain on the path towards prosperity.
Through its vision for a “new Kuwait”, the Gulf state has shouldered its global responsibility and remains committed to its sustainable development goals, he added.
Al-Manara center is the first Kuwaiti institution to provide child and adolescent psychiatry help, said head of Kuwait Center for Mental Health, Dr Bibi AlAmeeri on Wedndesday.
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, coinciding today, Dr Al-Ameeri told KUNA the Al-Manara deals with anxiety and behavioral disorders, in addition to autism cases for children and teenagers.
Established in 1955, the center went through many changes and developments, leading it to win the ‘safety star’ by the health ministry in 2016.
Al-Ameeri noted that the center receives thousands of cases each year and will continue to do so.(KUNA)
Turkey’s parliament speaker Binali Yildirim said that the joint communique of speakers of the Eurasian parliaments suggested boosting trade, among member states, with local currencies.
The conferees proposed enhancing trade with local currencies in line with the rules of the World Trade Organization, he told the Third Eurasian Parliament Speakers Meeting in Antalya.
The joint communique focused on warnings of using economy as a method of pressure that will be an obstacle for development, he added.
The meeting was a chance for consultation among all participating countries and drawing up a common roadmap, he noted.
The Speakers stressed during the meeting that combating terrorism is inevitable regardless of the identity of the terrorist organizations, their religious, ethnic or linguistic affiliations, he stressed.
