Third Expo 965 exhibition launched
Focus on Kuwaiti heritage
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15, (KUNA): Under the auspices of Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan, Minister of Information, State Minister for Youth Affairs and Board Chairman of National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Mohammad Al-Jabri, and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh, the “Expo 965” team officially opened the 3rd Expo 965 exhibition on Kuwaiti heritage on Sunday, October 14, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
During the event, Minister Al-Roudhan announced the formation of a permanent committee with representatives of Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Expo 965 team under the supervision of his office. He affirmed that this committee will be in charge of facilitating all commercial processes including those related to licenses or finding headquarters or permanent sites for the exhibitions of Kuwaiti youth, or other aspects
He indicated that the idea came up during his tour of the exhibition where he witnessed the creativity of the youth in handicraft and heritage industries, affirming the keenness of the government to promote such industries.
The minister lauded the exhibition for the fact that it showcases the work of the youth including some handmade craft work and traditional items which are associated with members of the society and families such as Al-Qattan, Al-Sanae, Al-Qallaf, Al-Haddad and Al-Safaar. He said such works indicate that the people of Kuwait have always represented a productive community.
He also praised the efforts exerted by the Expo 965 team in preserving the promoting Kuwaiti heritage, commending NCCAL’s support for the team and its activities.
Head of the Expo 965 team Mohammad Kamal said the objective of the exhibition is to develop the talents and skills of the Kuwaiti youth and activate the role of those with the desire to participate in the society through their achievements and ensure development and a prosperous future for the country.
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition features a wide array of priceless collections of stamps, coins, antiques, manuscripts, documents of the Kuwaiti rulers and ruling family, medals and trophies. It also showcases collections of old paintings, wood and metal art works, and several Islamic art works.
