‘Strengthen global laws to meet SDGs commitments’
MP lauds women empowerment
Representative of Kuwait and member of the Administrative Committee of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) Counselor Nawaf Al-Mohmal. ROME, Oct 15, (KUNA): Kuwait’s representative and board member of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) Nawaf Al-Mohmal affirmed on Monday the importance of strengthening legal, legislative and judicial systems worldwide to meet the commitments of the 2030 UN Sustainable Development the Goals (SDGs).
Al-Mohmal said, in a statement to KUNA, that “IDLO have had their regular annual meetings in their headquarters in the past few days to discuss their strategies for the years between 2017 and until 2020 with their partners and potential associates.”
The Kuwaiti representative said that those meetings resulted in a proposal of three frames that focus on “exploiting cumulative expertise” which is considered decisive in pushing the wheels of sustainable development towards a world where every person lives with dignity and under the rule of law as part of achieving the goals of the 2030 agenda.
Many countries joined Kuwait in participating in the meetings such as the US, Italy, Holland and Ireland, and Sweden and UK that are pending to join the organization.
IDLO was founded in 1983 as an intergovernmental organization to promote the rule of law and sustainable development and has experience working in many countries around the world.
Kuwaiti MP Safaa AlHashim Sunday expressed her pride on the advancement of women in Kuwait.
This came in a press statement after her participation in the meeting of women parliamentarians in Geneva as part of the conference of the 139th InterParliamentary Union.
Al-Hashim pointed out to the big presence of women parliamentarians in the discussion session that dealt with enhancing the role and status of women in parliament or in all aspects of life.
She pointed out that the discussions were about science and technology, noting at the same time her pride in the leadership of Kuwaiti women in this field.
