Kuwait playing a pivotal role in Arab culture plan
Youth Council to be launched
CAIRO, Oct 15, (KUNA): Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Mohammed AlJabri said Monday that Kuwait plays a central role in the Arab culture plan, which is the main pillar in shaping the policies of Arab cultural bodies.
This came in a speech delivered by Al-Jabri at the 21st session of the Conference of Ministers Responsible for Cultural Affairs in the Arab World, which was held in Cairo under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Al-Jabri stressed in his speech the continued approach of Kuwait in supporting Arab cultural institutions.
He added that the Youth Council would be launched in the coming period to be a youth platform to express their issues and aspirations and develop their partnership with government institutions, civil society and the private sector.
Al-Jabri said that Kuwait, with the support of its brothers, friends and the international community represented by the United Nations, was elected to serve as non-permanent member on the Security Council for two-year term 2018-2019.
In this context, he stressed that Kuwait, through this membership, is keen on supporting the Arab countries and their causes to achieve development at all levels, including cultural levels.
The Kuwaiti minister added in his speech that the agenda of the new session was full of topics related to joint Arab action, expressing hope to adopt the recommendations and decisions that would activate and enhance the joint work.
He also praised the efforts of the Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and The Standing Committee for Arab Culture for launching the strategic study on “Cultural Information in the Arab World in the Light of Digital Development”.
Moreover, Al-Jabri thanked Egypt for hosting the sessions and for the continuous efforts of the General Secretariat of the Arab League for Education, Culture and Science during each session of the Conference.
