Palestinian cause top priority at Kuwait Parliament, says MP
Big efforts to revive UNRWA: Al-Deqbasi
GENEVA, Oct 17, (KUNA): The Palestinian cause is the top priority at Kuwait’s Parliament, National Assembly MP Omar Al-Tabtabaie affirmed on Tuesday.
The participation of many parliaments across the globe in the InterParliamentary Union (IPU) meetings is an opportunity to highlight the Palestinian cause, Al-Tabtabaie said in a press statement during the IPU’s 139th session.
“The Kuwaiti lawmakers believe in the cause and hope for dismissing Israel from the IPU due to its inhuman policies from which the Palestinian brothers are suffering,” he said.
He noted that the Kuwaiti Parliament was mostly active over the last three years and could, for the first time in the Arab parliaments’ history, help adopt emergency items on the cause during the previous meetings held in Russia and Geneva.
Participation of the Kuwait Parliament as representative of Arab youth parliamentarians was to deliver ideas for Arab young people and persuade other countries to adopt these ideas, he stressed. He referred that young parliamentarians’ forum dealt with several projects and topics, which concern this category.
He pointed out that the lack of job opportunities for youth, and instability of political and economic conditions and their rapid change in the world are matters which should be considered.
Kuwait’s parliamentary delegation is keen on the issuance of resolutions aiming to activate the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said a Kuwaiti lawmaker on Tuesday.
The delegation’s members are participating effectively in different activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) committees, MP Ali Al-Deqbasi, a member of the parliamentary caucus, said in a press statement during taking part in the 139th session of IPU.
The delegation has several working papers regarding providing support to the agency, he added.
It seeks to obtain backing to UNRWA and is keen on issuing decisions to activate its action to be in favor of the refugees, he stressed.
Kuwait’s lawmakers are coordinating with Arab, Muslim and Asian counties to attain support for the fair issues, he affirmed.
Al-Deqbasi stated that the IPU is considered the second largest international organization that includes lawmakers representing all nations across the globe.
The delegation’s action is in line with the country’s policy based on disseminating peace and security, and promoting humanitarian role of the international organizations, he noted, hoping for a “useful” participation in the IPU’s meeting.
