Kuwait first in the region to use LIDAR project, says Al-Assoussi
Method recognizes all details including trees

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17, (KUNA): Director General of the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) Mussa’ed Al-Assoussi said Kuwait is first in the region in terms of the application of LIDAR (light detection and ranging).
Speaking at a press conference on the launching of LIDAR project, Al-Assoussi explained this helps in recognizing landmarks on roads at 360 degrees angle and accuracy of five millimeters. He said this method recognizes all details including buildings, trees, electric posts, traffic signals and advertisements.
He disclosed the project includes upgrading the Street View started by PACI as part of Kuwait Finder in March 2018.
He affirmed the program helps users to a great extent including businesspersons, firefighters and paramedics. He added the existing films were recorded in 2016, confirming that PACI will upgrade the data and it will give priority to new areas after completing the main roads.

He affirmed that the ministry will resort to direct contracting for maintenance works until its contracts are passed by the supervisory bodies.
Al-Najjar revealed the latest developments concerning maintenance contracts, stressing that the Cabinet has been addressed about two contracts for Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Hawally educational zones.
He clarified that the number of current maintenance contracts are two — one in Jahra educational zone, and one in Capital and Farwaniya educational zones and the Ministry’s Diwan.
