‘Amir keen on encouraging youth to pursue education’
US official hails work of PAM
PARIS, Oct 21, (KUNA): Kuwait Ambassador to France Sami Al-Sulaiman said Saturday His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah was keen on encouraging youth pursue education to eventually serve their country.
Al-Sulaiman, addressing the first conference of the National Union of Kuwait Students (NUKS) in France, said His Highness the Amir has always emphasized that investing in human beings was “the best investment ever” which would contribute to development, security and prosperity of Kuwait.
He said Kuwait’s 2035 development plan, based on His Highness the Amir’s vision to transform the Gulf country into a regional commercial and financial hub, was primarily based on investments in quality education to achieve development and advancement.
Kuwait, added Al-Sulaiman, has been encouraging students to apply for scholarships abroad for more than seven decades.
The Ministry of Higher Education is coordinating with Kuwait Embassy in Paris and the Cultural Office to create suitable environment for the students in France, he said.
Speaking to KUNA afterwards, AlSulaiman said the Embassy and Cultural Office were exerting every effort to support Kuwaiti students in France.
He called on the students to be dedicated during their studies so they would return to Kuwait to contribute to its development.
Kuwaiti MP Dr Abdulkareem AlKandari, in a statement to KUNA, said the political seminar that was held during the NUKS conference dealt with “fake certificates, quality of education in Kuwait and cheating.”
MP Mubarak Al-Hajraf called for expanding educational cooperation with France in order to ultimately exchange cultural values.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Office of Monitoring and Control of Human Trafficking at the US Department of State Joel Mayberry appreciated on Sunday the work of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower.
Mayberry praised the authority’s cooperation with foreigners with problems related to their accommodation and sponsors.
He also appreciated Kuwait’s role in having such authority to deal with these kinds of problems.
Mayberry, after visiting the authority, said that the cooperation between Kuwait and the United States had always been active in regards to human trafficking, pointing at the same time to mutual keenness to continue coordination.
On her part, Head of Public Relations and Media Department Aseel Al-Mazyad said briefed the US delegation with a number of awareness campaigns launched by the Authority in the field of electronic services through its website.
Al-Mazyad indicated that many decisions have been made to limit ‘masked’ labor, as well as having a plan to deal with such problem in the future.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent Sun. day a cable of condolences to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani over the victims of the attacks that targeted a number of electoral polls in various areas in Afghanistan.
In the cable, His Highness expressed sincere sentiments and prayed to Allah Almighty to bestow mercy on the dead and swift recovery for the injured.
His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AlHamad Al-Sabah sent similar cables to the Afghan president.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah recently sent a cable of congratulations to Kuwait National Assembly’s Secretary General Allam Al-Kandari on the occasion of his selection as head of the inter-legislative advisory body’s Arabic-speaking group at IPU conference.
In his cable, His Highness the Amir wished Al-Kandari all the best to fulfill the duties of this high position.
Also, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AlHamad Al-Sabah sent similar cables.
The Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) has chosen Al-Kandari as the head of the inter-legislative advisory body’s Arabic-speaking group, during a meeting on sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) conference in Geneva.
