KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21, (KUNA): Kuwait’s top lawmaker Marzouq AlGhanim has urged his fellow legislators to work together and keep the nation’s best interests at heart, as the region passes through a critical juncture.

Al-Ghanim’s statement to the press came after his meeting with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah earlier today.

“With His Highness the Amir in command, we will brave through the mounting waves,” he underlined.

In response to a question over the developments in the country’s political scene, the National Assembly Speaker emphasized that the “voice of reason would prevail.”

He went on to say that listening to His Highness the Amir’s words of wisdom was a morale booster for the lawmakers, all of whom are confident that they would be able to surmount all challenges.

Al-Ghanim hoped that the forthcoming session of Parliament would be “productive,” saying that the passage of legislation and the political status quo are inextricably linked.

He revealed that the opening session of the next parliamentary term, on Oct 30, will feature the grilling of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, as motioned by lawmakers Mohammad Al-Mutair and Shuaib Al-Muwaizri.

Kuwait’s Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Adel Al-Kharafi will also be grilled by lawmakers in the same session, AlGhanim added.

Meanwhile, Speaker Marzouq AlGhanim held official talks on Sunday with Romanian Prime Minister, Viorica Dancila and her accompanying delegation on the occasion of her official visit to the country.

The talks revolved around promoting bilateral relations and issues of common concern, Al-Dustoor network said in a press release.

The meeting was attended by a number of MPs in addition to Kuwait’s Ambassador to Romania Talal Al-Hajri and Romanian Ambassador to Kuwait Daniel Tanase.
