‘Rehabilitation Department’ to focus setbacks among addicts
Dept’s goal to address this phenomenon
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: Director of Rehabilitation and Correction Department at Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Nasser Al-Ajmi says the department was formed to overcome the repeated setback among some of the people who are recovering from addiction, especially since addiction and domestic violence are inextricably linked, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
He stressed that the department’s goal is to address this phenomenon, but the department cannot achieve its objectives by working alone; hence the importance of the voluntary aspect.
Dr Al-Ajmi indicated that there is a department called “Moderation Department” which is specialized in rehabilitating and correcting intellectual delinquents and terrorists.
He revealed that the Rehabilitation Department has begun addressing the phenomenon of bullying in schools.
Dr Al-Ajmi highlighted the great role played by the “Halfway House” in order to ensure addicts can obtain final recovery just like its global counterparts.
He explained that the achievement of the department’s objectives is done through three aspects treatment and follow-up of victims of domestic violence, follow-up of those recovering from addiction, as well as the community service carried out by the department which is the operation of incubators and workshops in the correctional institutions.
