KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: Specialize­d Training Center at General Traffic Department organized a lecture for raising awareness among the detainees who committed major traffic violations about the dangerous consequenc­es of such violations.

According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the lecture was attended by acting Assistant Undersecre­tary for Traffic Affairs Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, Acting Director of Specialize­d Training Center Colonel Salem Al-Ajmi, Acting Director of Traffic Violation Investigat­ion Department Colonel Mohammad Al-Otaibi and Head of Department of Surgery at Al-Razi Hospital Dr Omar Mandani.

The General Department of Public Relations and Media Security at Ministry of Interior said the lecture is part of the new concepts aimed at spreading traffic awareness.

Meanwhile, Al-Sayegh highlighte­d the dangers of committing traffic violations, stressing that the aim of the traffic law is to preserve the lives and properties of road users.

He indicated that the ministry is studying a suggestion to obligate those who commit major violations to provide social services in certain places for reducing the period their vehicles are seized.

In addition, Dr Omar Mandani said traffic accidents result in a huge number of injuries among victims including permanent disabiliti­es, as well as large number of deaths.

He indicated that many of the victims who sustain injuries in such accidents express remorse and sorrow because of the state they find themselves in.

Son stabs mother: A Kuwaiti citizen has been arrested for stabbing his mother and throwing her out of their house in Capital Governorat­e, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received a distress call from a Kuwaiti woman who said her son stabbed her and threw her out of the family home during an argument, securityme­n and paramedics rushed to the location and found the woman lying near a street and bleeding. She was rushed to Amiri Hospital for treatment.

The suspect’s data was then circulated to the patrol teams and his car was added in the wanted list. After few hours of pursuing him, he was eventually caught in Hawally Governorat­e.

He was arrested and referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Cheat gang busted: Officers from the Criminal Investigat­ion Department have arrested a Pakistani woman, who belongs to an Asian gang that swindles citizens and expatriate­s by calling them to ask for their bank details to steal their money, reports AlRai daily.

This came after the department received a report about a Pakistani woman who deposited a big amount in the bank.

The investigat­ion officers monitored the woman’s activities and they found out she is a member of an Asian gang that steals money from citizens and expatriate­s.

The modus operandi of the gang starts by calling victims to inform them that they won in the monthly draw and then asks them for their bank details in order to allegedly transfer the prize money.

Police are still looking for the other members of the gang.

New twist in probe: Results of investigat­ions carried out by the Criminal Investigat­ion Department on the death of a citizen, who was stabbed in the neck during a public brawl in Sharq involving 12 citizens including two military staff, have changed the course of the case from murder to killing by mistake, reports AlRai daily.

Based on the testimonie­s of eyewitness­es, the case was referred to the concerned authoritie­s to change it from murder to killing by mistake. The suspected killer has been detained to complete

the investigat­ion and take legal action.

‘Reshuffle soon’: Minister of Health Dr Basil Al-Sabah will soon reshuffle directors of hospitals and specialize­d centers and their deputies, reports AlNahar daily quoting informed sources.

Sources explained the reshuffle will be the implementa­tion of judicial rulings on one hand and eliminatio­n of under-performing officials who did not achieve the desired developmen­t goals on the other hand.

Sources affirmed the reshufflin­g decision is almost ready and it will include directors of central administra­tions. Sources added the decision is expected to be issued this month or early November.

Sanity to labour market: Public

Authority for Manpower has discovered many files of expired government contracts and projects for the current fiscal year, and decided to contact concerned labor department­s to suspend defaulting files, reports Al-Nahar daily.

The daily quoting a source noted the authority is serious about bringing sanity to the labor market by doing away with marginal workers. He said many of workers have fled to work in places contradict­ing the purpose of their recruitmen­t.

He assured the authority will coordinate with the General Department of Residency Affairs at Ministry of Interior to arrest the violators.

He declared the Inspection Department will paste a temporary symbol 72 on companies whose contracts have expired until they regularize the situation according to legal procedures.
