Al-Afasi discusses cooperation with Tunisian officials
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: Kuwait’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Fahad Al-Afasi said Saturday he would be meeting with Tunisian officials to discuss cooperation in Islamic Affairs, endowment and Zakat (alms).
Al-Afasi make the remarks in a statement shortly after arrival in Tunis for an official visit for talks with Tunisian Minister of Religious Affairs Ahmad Adhoum and senior officials.
He said the two ministries would sign an implementation program affiliated to a cooperation agreement with the objective of spreading the culture of tolerance and the moderate image of Islam.
Al-Afasi said he would be visiting a number of Islamic institutions in Tunisia. He said the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs sought to sign similar protocols with Arab and Islamic countries with the aim of developing Muslim communities.
Furthermore, Minister of Justice, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Fahad Al-Afasi on Sunday laid the cor- nerstone of a mosque and an Islamic teaching institute at Al-Haririyah in the western sector of the Tunisian capital.
Al-Afasi said in remarks to KUNA and Kuwait Television that this initiative would contribute to boosting cooperation between Kuwait and Tunisia at the religious level.
Tunisia Minister of Religious Affairs Ahmad Athoum indicated that the institute would witness graduation of religious guides.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Tunisia Al-Dhafiri said the project materialized following yearlong efforts, affirming that it would be helpful for cementing the bilateral relations and promoting a religious language of tolerance and moderation.
