CSC nods exemption of expat preachers from Kuwaitizat­ion

New mosques, new ‘imams’: CSC

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: The Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Daoud Al-Assousi was recently quoted as saying the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has given the nod to exempt expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins from Kuwaitizat­ion, reports AlAnba daily.

The approval was included in a letter issued by Civil Services Commission including the following: According to a Letter No. 9599 issued by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs concerning the request of exempting expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins from the CSC decision taken in the meeting No. 12/2018 held on Nov 5, CSC approved the exemption of expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins from the enforcemen­t of the relevant decision of CSC.

The letter of the CSC which is directed to the Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, stipulated that the number of imams, preachers and muezzins should be fixed, and that in the future, the appointmen­t of expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins should be only in the following two cases, opening of new mosques and in case of shortage resulting from the end of service of any expatriate­s currently occupying the position of imams, preachers and muezzins.

The Council of Ministers has formed a factfindin­g committee to look into the damage caused by the current heavy rains and the file of ‘flying’ gravel, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Knowledgea­ble sources told the daily the file includes the names of all related companies and steps taken by the state ministries from day one – the day when the issue of flying gravel surfaced.

The sources affirmed the committee is studying the significan­t of this informatio­n since the issue has caused lot damage to highways and internal roads particular­ly in the Sabah Al-Ahmad City.
