‘Anti-Corruption Authority’ receives flood crisis report

Official lauds Cabinet’s trust

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority, also known as Nazaha, on Monday confirmed receiving the government­al report regarding the flood crisis.

The report includes inputs from the government­al Technical Committee which presented details on the affected roads and the most recent road maintenanc­e works.

In a press statement, Secretary-General for Corruption Investigat­ion and official spokespers­on of Nazaha Dr Mohammed Bozabr disclosed that the authority also received the parliament­ary report on the loose gravel issue. He said both reports will be reviewed thoroughly to ensure all attached documents are accurate, lawful and void of violations.

He added Nazaha will also request for the reports of the Ministry of Public Works and the parliament­ary Public Utilities Committee to include them in the evaluation process, along with the opinions of experts from every concerned authority and institutio­n.

Bozabr lauded the Cabinet’s trust in Nazaha as it referred all public cases and issues to the authority, stressing the latter will spare no effort in determinin­g who should be held responsibl­e and then refer them to the Public Prosecutio­n.

Furthermor­e, the Handicappe­d Affairs Committee in the Parliament has finalized its priorities for this legislativ­e term considerin­g there are 21 proposed amendments to the Handicappe­d Law.

The committee recently met some human rights representa­tives and United Nations (UN) officials who are currently preparing a report on human rights efforts in Kuwait and the role it plays in protecting the welfare of people with disabiliti­es, along with the legislativ­e efforts in this regard.

During the meeting, the committee responded adequately to all the queries of the human rights representa­tives and UN officials who were also briefed on measures taken in the past and plans in this field. The committee confirmed it is keen on cooperatin­g and supporting civil societies and concerned internatio­nal organizati­ons.

In another developmen­t, the Legislativ­e and Legal Affairs Committee headed by MP Khaled Al-Shatti met Chairperso­n of Kuwait-France Goodwill Commission from the French Senate Jean-Marie Bockel and his accompanyi­ng delegation.

Al-Shatti revealed they discussed a number of legal, financial and constituti­onal issues and ways to strengthen legal and legislativ­e relations with the French Parliament, in addition to the visit of the Kuwaiti Legislativ­e Committee delegation to Paris several months ago and its fruitful developmen­ts.
