13 ‘Abdali Cell’ members facing jail terms are still at large, says report
Indian nurses file referred to Prosecution
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: Thirteen members of the so-called Al-Abdali Cell who were wanted by law and had been sentenced in absentia from one to five years imprisonment are believed to be still at large, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily added, according to available information a majority of the suspects were outside the country before the verdicts against them were issuance last Thursday.
As a matter of fact their arrests have become a thorny issue for the Ministry of Interior.
However, a reliable source said the enforcement of Judicial verdicts is a red line and no one will escape the law.
The arrest warrants will now be addressed to the Interpol to arrest the suspects and extradite them to Kuwait.
Indian nurses file: Minister of Health Dr Basel Al-Sabah was recently quoted as saying the Ministry of Health will look into the circumstances of the ‘suspicious’ appointment of hundreds of Indian nurses and that the Ministry has referred the file to the Public Prosecution, reports Al-Jarida daily.
This came after the ministry detected flaws, irregularities and suspicions that caused the state to lose public funds.
The minister was answering a parliamentary query submitted by MP Rakan Al-Nisf concerning the appointment of a big number of Indian female nurses by companies in 2016, who are at the center of dispute because they have yet to be hired and paid by the Ministry of Health.
Al-Sabah cited irregularities in hiring the nurses and giving them government housing without the approval of the Civil Services Commission.
KD 72 mln collected: The General Traffic Department, (GTD) is said to have collected KD 72 million this year until November, reports Al-Qabas daily.
This was in the form of late -renewal of driving licences, car registration books and traffic citations.
‘Can renew registration’: Based on directives from the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, Ministry of Interior has granted illegal residents (Bedoun), whose security cards have expired, the
right to renew the documents of their vehicles, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
According to an informed source, Bedoun residents with expired security cards were earlier unable to renew the documents of their vehicles. This affected hundreds of Bedoun residents due to which the department is now ready to renew their documents regardless of the status of their security cards.
Coal fumes victims: Three Kuwaiti citizens in their 30 sustained serious breathing difficulties due to inhalation of toxic gases emitted
from burning coal, reports AlAnba daily.
According to sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about three citizens who are suffering from breathing difficulties inside a plastic tent in Abdali area, paramedics rushed to the location and referred the victims to Jahra Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Director of Public Relations in Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) Brigadier Khalil Al-Ameer urged citizens and residents to avoid using coal burners inside closed areas.
He stressed that KFSD has been warning against the use of coal
burners every winter season.
Maid, kids rescued: Two Kuwaiti children and an Asian housemaid suffered from smoke inhalation when fire broke out in an apartment in Oyoun area.
According to sources, firefighters rushed to the location with paramedics and securitymen after receiving reports about the fire that broke out in an apartment on the third floor of a building in Oyoun area. Upon arrival, firefighters immediately rescued the three victims from one of the windows of the burning apartment, after which they extinguished the fire before it spread further.
