‘Special needs people not neglected’
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3, (KUNA): Minister of Social Affair and Labour, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh, said that Kuwait’s five-year development plan did not neglect people with special needs.
This came in a statement marking the International Day of Disabled, held on December 3 every year, designated by the UN in 1992 to support people with special needs.
The development plan aims to strengthen human capital through programs dedicated to serve this category of people, she said, noting that the Public Authority of the Disabled included a number of projects meant to ake more care of people with special needs and to develop services provided to them.
Kuwait is urging its public and private sectors to provide all needs and care in addition to rehabilitation, and rights of equality to people with special needs, she stressed.
Kuwait is also keen to implement Law No. 8/2010 for the care of the disabled through cooperation between Public Authority of the Disabled and the Ministry of the Interior to punish those who illegaly use the parking spaces of people with special needs, in addition to exemption of disabled people from fees and other articles of the law.
The Public Authority of the Disabled is also keen to study all special needs outputs, to ensure rehabilitation and training, which ensures including them in the labor market, she added.
