FANA’s GA thanks Kuwait for hosting the 46th Conference
Federation’s head affirms keenness to support media
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 4, (KUNA): FANA’s General Assembly on Monday voiced thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad AlSabah for hosting the 46th Conference.
Thanks were also given to the Chairman of FANA and KUNA Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak AlDuaij Al-Sabah for his efforts in organizing the conference and his cooperation in implementing decisions taken.
On his part, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij also expressed appreciation to the members of the General Assembly and Secretary-General for their hard work which had ensured the successful conference.
The General Assembly called on members to take on the quota method to positively affect female journalists’ working environment and enshrine equal opportunities for both men and women.
The Secretariat was directed to organize workshops in 2019 to improve the capabilities of employees of the news agencies and provide them with current changes in various fields.
It also proposed the continuation of discussions on forming a dialogue committee composed of Arab news agencies with the German Press Agency to be further developed as a gateway for future annual conferences to exchange information and ideas.
An agreement was reached on continued cooperation between FANA and European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) and to work on a new agreement between both sides taking into account new circumstances.
Reports and bulletins for kids were also added to the 2019 agenda called the New Generation Reports File, and the contributions of the news agencies will be scheduled by the General Secretariat.
They were keen on using these reports a tool to educate the youth and expand their knowledge through various learning experiences and providing them with values that call for respecting humanity and society at large.
The General Secretariat was requested to form a discussion forum for the members on the policy of disinformation and its negative impact on modern society guided by individuals who specialize in this issue.
Activating the role of Arab news agencies and Arab media ahead of the dangers of social media, applications, and electronic games that promote violence and “terrorism”.
The Arab News Agencies called for a broadcast that promotes a culture of civil peace and social justice to establish awareness that contributes to building a modern state.
Meanwhile, head of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) as well as Chairman of the Board and Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Sabah affirmed on Tuesday his appreciation of the Kuwaiti political leaderships’ constant support to the media.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Premier Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on sponsoring FANA’s Conference and his huge interest in Arab media development.
Sheikh Mubarak said in a press release, after the conclusion of the 46th Conference, that the success of the event strengthened Kuwait’s position in the Arab world and confirmed its respect to the media.
He added that political leaderships facilitated the proceedings of the conference and provided adequate supports.
He mentioned that the 46th FANA Conference discussed many important issues which will enable Arab agencies to pursue their media role to enhance their presence internationally.
