Director General of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport Engineer Sahy Ashkanani announced opening of the permanent service road from Sabah Hospital Roundabout to Psychiatri­c Hospital Roundabout for road users going to Kuwait City and others heading toward Gharnata Residentia­l Area from Monday morning.

She noted the road is part of Jamal Abdul-Nasser Road No.HT/167, which is the final completion of the project in that area, indicating the newly opened road is about 1.2 kilometers long.

Two hurt in mishap:

Two Kuwaitis were rushed to a hospital after they were injured in traffic accident on the Jassem Al-Kharafi Road (6th Ring Road), reports Al-Rai daily.

According to eyewitness reports firemen exerted tremendous efforts to extract one of the victims, who was trapped inside the vehicle.

The cause of the accident in not known.

Family rescued:

Firefighte­rs from Ardiyah and Shuwaikh fire stations, led by Major Talal Al-Yaqout, rescued a family of seven from a fire that engulfed their residence in Ardiyah, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The Public Relations and Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior disclosed the Operations Unit dispatched the firefighte­rs immediatel­y after receiving informatio­n concerning the incident.

Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighte­rs discovered that the fire incident occurred on the second floor of the building and some occupants were stuck on the third floor, so they first evacuated the residents. The firefighte­rs later embarked on the fire-out operation, which was successful without casualties.

A case was registered and investigat­ions are underway to determine the cause of fire.

File shelved:

The Public Prosecutio­n has shelved the flying gravel file submitted by former Minister of Public Works and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Ali Al-Omair due to lack of informatio­n such as the names of those behind the problem, damages and public fund losses, reports Al-Jareeda daily quoting reliable sources.
