Event highlights ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities’

-

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: The Association of Lawyers on Tuesday evening organized an event to highlight the ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities’, reports Al-Anba daily.

Speaking on the occasion, the secretary of the Kuwait Association for the Follow-up of Disabled Persons Ali Thuwaini and lawyer Abdul Rahman Al-Enezi shed light on the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Law No. 8 of 2010 on the rights of persons with disabilities.

Al-Thuwaini said the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities emphasizes that the disabled person should be treated as a human being with inherent rights and should not be discriminated against and deprived of any right. He pointed out that Kuwaiti law is good and is proud to have introduced this law like other countries of the world.

The International Convention, he said, focuses on raising the value of people with disabilities and the need to change the negative stereotype of them as a kind of human diversity and a segment of society, noting that the rights they feel did not exist must be approved fully.

Lawyer Abdulrahman Al-Enezi criticized the definition of the law of the disabled, and said it bad, and that the person with the disability has been identified as having a certificate of disability.
