Volunteers can play vital role in society’s development: PAY
Call to update economic laws
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5, (KUNA): Public Authority for Youth (PAY) is keen on regulating voluntary action and unifying efforts of all bodies working in this field, PAY’s Director General Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi said on Tuesday.
This would provide opportunities to the young volunteers and enable them to play their key role in the development and prosperity of the society, he added.
Speaking during a session on sustainable professional volunteering held Tuesday at the national library, Al-Mutairi said the gathering discussed some topics including mechanisms of legalizing voluntary action to overcome crises and make positive development.
There would be several meetings to obtain several proposals on volunteering groups, he noted. For her part, Assistant Undersecretary for social development sector affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Hana’a Al-Hajri said the ministry launched an initiative in 2014, adding that it has so far 180 members of youth.
Groups
She called on the voluntary groups to pay much attention to environment and the integration of the disabled into the society. She stressed that the ministry has spared no efforts to offer facilitations to these groups. Musaed AlEnezi, head of youth affairs department at the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, said KRCS includes 2,000 volunteers who had training courses on first aid and civil defense. He affirmed that these young people have played a distinguished role, mainly in relief and humanitarian action.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan on Wednesday affirmed necessity of updating economic laws for boosting investments including small enterprise.
The minister said his department “prepared” a law for audit practicing, noting auditors’ key task of screening financial data and ensuring companies’ adherence to the relevant laws. Al-Roudhan was speaking at inaugural session of the “the sixth international vocational conference for auditing and revision.”
The draft law regulates consultancy and sets rules and criteria for auditors.
The Kuwaiti Government had issued, in coordination with the parliament, a large number financial, economic and investment laws, as part of the strategy to stay abreast of global economic openness.
He called for mapping out “future plans” to cope with “emerging challenges in auditing and render the profession more helpful for decision makers.” The conference tackles tax calculations, alms, governance, internal auditing and auditing’s role in combating fraud and corruption.
