KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: British Ambassador to Kuwait Michael Davenport attended this morning (Dec 5, 2018) the Sportshall Athletics competition at The English School with the participation of New English School as well as The English School. Each school was represented by 20 students (both girls and boys).
Sportshall Athletics is an indoor form of track and field between the ages of 4 and 16 developed by UK company, Eveque. It was created to provide a safe environment for young athletes to train during cold and dark winters. Today Sportshall is the largest competition within the School Games framework in the UK with an estimated user base of over 3 million children.
The programme focuses on fitness and multi-skill development providing a grounding for all sports. It is totally inclusive, encourages children to get fit and promotes friendship whilst having lots of fun.

British Ambassador to Kuwait Michael Davenport said : “I’m delighted to attend this event and to bring to Kuwait British expertise in indoor athletics for school children. Healthy lifestyle, fitness and competition are values, which play a part in our lives and we are keen to spread these values among school children in Kuwait. Sportshall has been helping British children to stay active through indoor activities, which would otherwise be impossible due to cold or wet weather. In Kuwait, the weather offers different challenges but ones to which Sportshall can offer the same solutions. I would like to avail of this opportunity to thank the Eveque Sportshall Team and the participating schools and in particular The English School for hosting the event.”
Roxanne Simon, the Director of Sport at The English School said : “Fitness, confidence, skills and team work, are just some of the benefits that are developed through this most worthwhile concept. Currently, elements of Sporthall Athletics are intertwined within our curriculum, however, we are very much looking forward to learning about how this can be developed further, to maximize the potential of our students.
