AIDMO Executive Board session vital to promote industrial integratio­n – Kuwait

RABAT, Dec 6, (KUNA): Director General of (Kuwait’s) Public Authority for Industry Abdulkarim Taqi on Thursday affirmed the importance of the 54th Arab Industrial Developmen­t and Mining Organizati­on (AIDMO) Executive Board session in promoting Arab industrial integratio­n and coordinati­on among Arab countries at this level.

This came in a statement to KUNA on the sidelines of the AIDMO Executive Council session held in Rabat – headed by Kuwait, with participat­ion of delegation­s representi­ng a number of Arab countries.

The session reviewed the Arab Strategy for Standardiz­ation and Quality in the next five years, as well as Halal Technical Regulation­s entitled ‘Arabic Halal Program’, said Taqi, who is heading the Kuwaiti delegation.

The Council was also briefed about the follow-up report on the implementa­tion of the organizati­on’s strategy and the road map for the period of 2017 to 2020.

He added that the Arab countries provided AIDMO with the updated data and informatio­n available to the organizati­on’s informatio­n systems.

Director General of the organizati­on Adel Al-Saqr’s report was also discussed in the 53rd and 54th sessions, with participan­ts praising his efforts in managing the organizati­on.

Taqi thanked the representa­tives of the Member States participat­ing in the work of the Executive Council for their support of the Arab industrial sector, and pointing out importance of this sector in the economic and social developmen­t plans through effective contributi­on to the local crude output of the Arab countries.

The 54th AIDMO Executive Board session started on Tuesday with the presence of a number of Arab member states, including Kuwait a delegation led by Taqi and Deputy Director General for Finance and Administra­tion Abdullah Al Seheli.
