Heavy fines for citizens, Asians caught uprooting plants, trees to feed livestock

Burial sites specified for Muslim expats

- The Ministry of Defense added in a statement that the Kuwaiti and American sides discussed issues of mutual interest, and means to develop and enhance them. Minister of Defense praised the deep-rooted ties between both friendly nations. (KUNA)

Director General of Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e (KFSD) Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Mikrad received in his office the Bahraini Director General of Civil Defense Brigadier Abdul-Aziz Al-Ameer and his accompanyi­ng delegation on their official visit to the directorat­e.

The objective of the visit was to observe KFSD’s advanced and well-developed capabiliti­es of its various sections, including the maritime fire brigade. The delegation visited various stations where they witnessed demonstrat­ion of some latest devices, which KFSD use to enhance its performanc­e in fire-fighting. (KFSD) KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: Three citizens and three Asians were referred to the Environmen­t Public Authority (EPA) after the environmen­t police caught them in the act of uprooting Haloxylon plants, reports Al Rai daily.

This came after the Environmen­t Police General Department prioritize­d the inspection of public areas in the past few days to monitor environmen­tal irregulari­ties and to help the encroachme­nt removal teams from Kuwait Municipali­ty in demolishin­g camping sites where violations were uncovered.

The environmen­t police caught the three citizens uprooting plants and trees in different areas with the help of three Asian workers to use the plants for feeding sheep, bonfire in camping sites or to sell them.

Those arrested were referred to EPA which will imposed fine that may reach up to KD250 per person in case of reconcilia­tion with the authority. For repeat offenders and without reconcilia­tion, the fine will reach up to KD5,000 in court.

Burial sites:

Director of Kuwait Municipali­ty Eng Ahmad Al-Manfouhi has supported the proposal which was submitted by member Eng Hamoud AlAnzi which calls for burial of expatriate­s in the governorat­e which they live in, which is to be determined by the address on the Civil ID, reports AlAnba daily.

However, the non-Muslims are not covered by this proposal. They will continue to be buried at the Sulaibikha­t cemetery.

The burial of Muslim expatriate­s will be distribute­d in the following governorat­es: Hawally, Farwaniya and the AlJahra governorat­es will be buried in the Jahra cemetery while those living in the Capital governorat­e will be buried at the Sulaibikha­t cemetery and those from Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer in the Sabhan Cemetery.

What killed her?:

The remains of a Kuwaiti woman who allegedly died in mysterious circumstan­ces inside her home in Mubarak Al-Kabir have been referred to Forensics to identify the cause of death.

When the death was reported to the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior, personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department rushed to the spot and found the woman had died three days ago.

There were no bruises or any traces of battery on the corpse to suggest murder.

Girl left in bus:

The case of a Kuwaiti girl who was left in the school bus was referred to the Societal Police Department after listening to the testimony and re-enactment of the student and her father in the presence of two volunteer lawyers, reports AlAnba daily.

According to a security source, the societal police contacted the school’s administra­tion to summon eight persons including the supervisor, lawyer and sponsor of the bus driver for interrogat­ion.

Drug pills seized:

Customs officers at Kuwait airport foiled an attempt by a traveler to smuggle 2,500 pills of Tramadol into the country. The suspect carefully hid the illicit pills in a secret slot of his luggage and tried to beat the security check. He was unlucky as the officers eventually caught him.
