KPBD organizes blood donation drive
Event aims to express gratitude to Kuwait
The Kuwait Pakistan Blood Donors (KPBD), a social welfare group in collaboration with Central Blood Bank of Kuwait, conducted their blood donation drive at Central Blood Bank of Kuwait on Nov 30, 2018. The drive was carried with the support from the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to State of Kuwait. Pakistan Business Council and Al Hafiz Company sponsored the event. The event was organized with an aim to express solidarity and gratitude towards the country while strengthening brotherly ties between both nations and extending credentials as a socially responsible community in Kuwait.
The Pakistani community in Kuwait firmly believes that the blood donation is a noble cause and that this drive is a mere token of appreciation to the society of Kuwait and valued as an opportunity to extend their sincere support while playing a productive role in the social and economic development between both nations.
The event witnessed over 300 attendees among which about 200 people registered themselves as donors. In a mere span of 6 hours, about 180 blood donations were received, the attendees were mostly of Pakistani heritage who have been living and working in Kuwait with their families for several years and have always valued Kuwait as their second home. The donors also included a recognizable count of Kuwaiti, Egyptian and Indian nationals in addition to other Asian and Arab nationals who came forward to extend their support to the community in a move to not only serve humanity through blood donation but also to express their gratitude towards the Pakistani community in the State of Kuwait.
HE Ghulam Dastaghir; Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to State of Kuwait graced the event and donated blood to express his support to this noble cause along with Arif Butt, who is one of the leading Pakistani businessman in Kuwait.
Arif Butt, who is the chairman of KPBD attended HE Ghulam Dastaghir while he donated blood and extended his gratitude and thanks to him on behalf of Pakistani community and KPBD team. During this conversation, Dastaghir praised the role of Pakistani community towards Kuwait and in particular the efforts put in by KPBD in carrying out humanitarian activities in line with their mission of raising awareness in society on the noble cause of blood donation.
The participants also represented a strong and humanitarian message that exemplified a sincere contribution to provide support to needy individuals of the community, especially those in need of rare types of blood in hard times.
The community had exceeded the expected turnout by responding enthusiastically donating blood. Kuwait, Pakistan Blood Donors aspire to inspire others among the community to donate blood with an aim to continually increase awareness in the society about lives that can be saved with their blood donation.
