Egyptian teacher referred to court in maltreatment, death of student
Deportation for expats caught in New Year ‘wild’ parties
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13: The Public Prosecutor’s Office yesterday decided to refer the Egyptian teacher Najla Mohammad to the Criminal Court in the case of the death of a student, Issa Al-Balushi, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily said the teacher was released last April without any guarantee.
A source said the Prosecution has charged the accused on four counts – one of which led to the death. The other charges include maltreatment of the child, abusing his father and his mother, which she had denied during a prosecutor’s investigation in April.
The source revealed that the Forensic reports and a report issued by the tripartite medical committee formed by the Ministry of Health, and the results of investigations carried out by the detectives had confirmed the natural death and lack of criminal suspicion. However, the case was not shelved because of accounts of witnesses who said the boy was treated harshly by the teacher.
The incident took place last February, when the child died in the family home after returning from the primary school of Amr ibn al-Aas in Al-Rawda and his parents pointed a finger of accusation at his teacher saying she treated the boy in a harsh manner and insulted him in spite of her knowledge of his health condition which led to health complications and death.
Helping maids flee:
The Home Employment Department of the General Department of Residence Affairs ended the activity of an Asian driver who was helping domestic workers run away from the houses of their sponsors and taking them to the embassies of their countries, reports AlAnba daily.
During interrogation the driver has admitted to helping at least 30 maids to escape in return for KD 40 each.
A security source said the Home Employment Department, based on its follow-up on the issues of domestic workers and the information published on them, monitored a page on Facebook in which the suspect offered his service to help maids to escape.
The source added the driver was identified and arrested in Sabah AlSalem while attempting to help a housemaid to escape.
The Asian has been referred to the concerned authorities to prepare his deportation.
Deportation for expats:
The Ministry of Interior is preparing what it called ‘an expanded security campaign’ to coincide with the New Year celebrations, reports Al-Anba daily.
The campaign shall include public security, criminal investigation, and rescue and traffic departments. They will target recklessness and non-civilized behavior mostly involving young people along the Gulf Road
and some vital areas.
Under the campaign plan, securitymen will monitor some of the apartments in suspicious buildings and restrooms, especially in crowded bachelors areas – citizens or residents.
A security source said that any expatriate who is caught in an act of recklessness will be transferred to the Directorate General for Deportation and will not be allowed to enter the country again.
