AIPU chairman praises union’s distinguished role in Arab unity
Egyptian parliament hosts 24th session of AIPU executive committee
CAIRO, Dec 15, (KUNA): Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Chairman and Speaker of Egyptian Parliament Dr Ali Abdelaal stressed on Saturday the vital role AIPU plays as a clear model of Arab unity.
He made the remark in a speech delivered on his behalf by MP Said Al-Gammal during the opening of the 24th session of the AIPU executive committee, headed and hosted by the Egyptian parliament.
AIPU came to reflect Arab comprehensive and strong unity, as the recent few years witnessed radical changes, especially in the Arab region amid armed conflicts and civil wars, along with regional and international interference, he said.
This consequently resulted in the spread of terrorism, political, social and religious radicalism, which negatively affected the people and nations of the region, he added.
The Palestinian cause, being “the core Arab cause” suffered the US blatant bias policy and brutal Israeli occupation, he said.
All conflicts of the Arab region are discussed and tackled with the attendance of foreign parties, but in the absence of Arab role and solution to end this blood-spattered scene, he regretted.
He underlined the importance of reviving the Arab nation, taking in consideration its human and natural resources.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting was headed by the National Assembly’s Secretary, Parliamentary caucus Secretary General MP Dr Ouda Al-Rowai’e, including National Assembly’s Secretary General, head of the association of secretary-generals of Arab Parliaments MP Allam Al-Kandari.
The executive committee is tackling many issues during its meeting, including the AIPU Secretary Genera’s report, special committees’ reports, a draft budget for 2019 reforms and suggestions of AIPU charter, besides other matters.
