Landrum shines as No. 4 Baylor women rout TCU
No. 9 Maryland uses big 4th quarter to beat Michigan 83-69
FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan 13, (AP): Juicy Landrum scored a career-high 23 points, Kalani Brown had 16 points and four blocks and the No. 4 Baylor women went on a huge first-half run before coasting to a 79-55 victory over TCU on Saturday.
The Lady Bears (13-1, 3-0 Big 12) had a 20-0 spurt that started late in the first quarter and covered most of the second, when they outscored the Horned Frogs 19-2 for a 35-11 halftime lead.
It was the 15th time this season Baylor has had a run of at least 10 straight points, including one in each of its three Big 12 games. The Lady Bears beat TCU for the 26th consecutive time, 14 of those since the Horned Frogs joined the Big 12 in 201213.
Amy Okonkwo scored 20 points for TCU (11-4, 1-3).
Maryland 83, Michigan 69
In College Park, Maryland, Taylor Mikesell scored 17 points, Shakira Austin had 13 points and 15 rebounds, and Maryland used a strong finish to get past Michigan.
The Terrapins led 55-54 before five different players scored in a 13-4 run that made it 68-58 with 5 minutes left, part of a 30-point fourth quarter for Maryland.
The victory thrust the Terrapins into sole possession of second place in the Big Ten, a half-game behind Rutgers. Maryland (15-1, 4-1) has won three straight since losing to the Scarlet Knights on Dec. 31.

Texas 64, Iowa St 62
In Ames, Iowa, Sug Sutton had 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists and Joyner Holmes had a big block as Texas survived two missed shots in the closing seconds to edge Iowa State.
The Longhorns (14-2, 4-0 Big 12), who have won seven straight, used a 15-0 run in the third quarter to build a double-figure lead. The Cyclones rallied from 10 down in the fourth and had a chance to tie or win it at the end.
Iowa State made it a two-point game with 44 seconds left forced Texas into a shot-clock violation with 13.3 seconds to play. After a couple of timeouts, Holmes blocked a layup attempt by Alexa Middleton with five seconds to go. The Cyclones got the rebound but Bridget Carleton’s 15-footer was off the mark as time ran out.
Carleton led Iowa State (13-3, 3-1) with 20 points.
Gonzaga 97, Portland 72
In Spoken, Washington, Zykera Rice scored a career-high 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting and Gonzaga raced to a win over Portland.
Laura Stockton added 19 points for the Bulldogs (16-1, 5-0 West Coast Conference), who have won 12 straight overall and 20 straight over the Pilots (8-8, 0-5).
Portland scored the first basket of the game before Katie Campbell hit a 3-pointer and the Bulldogs, off to their best start in history, never trailed again. LeeAnne Wirth had eight points as the Zags led 29-13 after one quarter.
Reserves Jill Townsend and Melody Kempton combined for 21 points for Gonzaga, which shot 52 percent.
Jayce Gorzeman and Julie Spencer had 15 points apiece for the Pilots, who shot 36 percent and were outrebounded 58-30.
