GUST holds 14th Annual Book and Information Fair
12 new books by GUST faculty were released and promoted
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) announced today the launch of its 14th Annual Book and Information Fair on its campus. The event, organized by the A. M. Al-Refai Library, aims at connecting the GUST community with publishers, and to give them the opportunity to discover the latest additions to its library resources. The event was attended by the university’s top management, and officially opened by GUST President, Professor Walid Bouhamra, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor JasemAbdulsalam, Acting Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr Ali Ansari, and Library Director, Mrs Shobhita Kohli. The main sponsor of the event was That Al Salasil, GUST’s campus bookstore.
The Book and Information Fair offers leading publishers a platform to display the latest editions of books and online catalogs, and offers online service providers the opportunity to introduce their latest products and innovations available in the world of technology to help faculty adopt and navigate these resources in the classroom and to advance their research.
The fair also celebrated the release of 12 different books authored by its faculty in the last year. The books include: Politics & Digital Literature in the Middle East and Participation Culture in the Gulf both by Dr NeleLenze; Challenges and Opportunities in the Digital Era by Dr Salah Al-Sharhan, Dr Antonis Simintiras, Dr LuayTahat, Dr Issam Moughrabi, and Dr Taher Ali; Media Law in Kuwait by Dr Ali Dashti, Dr Ildiko Kaposi, and Dr Matt Duffy; Lulu’s Song and the Four Flying Friends by Dr ShahdAlShammari and illustrated by GUST student Hajar Al-Marhoun; Hegel and the Foundations of Literary Theory by Dr M. A. R. Habib; Book Chapter Faculty Development for Online Teaching, in the book: Handbook of Research on Virtual Training and Mentoring of Online Instructors by Dr Gertrude I. Hewapathirana; Basics of Geographic Information Systems in Rand Spatial Econometrics in Rby Dr Mohammed Moustafa; Tayseer Al-Rahman in the Sciences and Literature and the Provisions of the Koranby Dr Salah Arkadan; and Exporting Wealth and Importing Labour: A History of Production in the Gulf Arab States by Dr Omar Al-Shehabi.
The Book and Information Fair is a yearly event which contributes to elevating GUST’s standing in the academic world, as well as recognizing the authors’ efforts and giving them an opportunity to showcase their contributions to the university’s mission of research, teaching and service.
