KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6, (KUNA): Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim said on Wednesday that he will travel to Geneva on Thursday to show up at a scheduled meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.

Al-Ghanim told reporters at the end of today’s session of the National Assembly that on Sunday, he will go to Cairo for a conference with the Arab InterParliamentary Union (APIU).

On today’s meeting with the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, they discussed the constitutionality of the subject of the interpellation motion, submitted by MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The speaker indicated that some of the MPs “expressed sharp views which should be accepted,” however he rejected inflammatory rhetoric intended to “defame any person.”

In essence, the democratic process is “voting and sounding out views of the majority of the assembly members .. that have approved the said decision,” he has concluded.
