KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: Secretary General of Private Universities Council Dr Habib Abul revealed that the children of non-Kuwaiti employees of Arab Open University (AOU) are supposed to receive admission in public schools, reports Al-Rai daily.

He revealed that a request in this regard has been submitted to Minister of Higher Education Dr Hamed Al-Azmi.

Dr Abul said articles 4 and 5 of law No. 31/2002 stipulate that the minor children of non-Kuwaiti employees of AOU can join the schools and institutions of Ministry of Education.

Even though Dr Abul addressed the President of the university Dr Nayef Bijad Al-Mutairi for allowing children of the university employees to join public schools based on the abovementioned law, an educational source indicated that the law has been deactivated, and the educational zones did not receive any circular for admitting the children of these employees in a similar manner as the children of imams and employees in mosques

Meanwhile, The General Department of Residence Affairs has rejected a proposal submitted by the General Department for Monitoring and Inspection of the Ministry of Interior not to accept residence renewal transactions from citizens who owe debt to any party, reports Al-Anba daily.

The proposal required the department to run a check with the Sentences Enforcement Department before accepting the request for residence renewal,
