Kuwaiti-Jordanian ties ‘deep-rooted’ in multi-faceted relations: Al-Daihani
KUNA signs global media platform for tolerance
AMMAN, Feb 10, (KUNA): Kuwaiti-Jordanian ties skyrocketed in deep-rooted multi-faceted relations, Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani said on Sunday.
His remark to KUNA came in prelude to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah’s visit to the Hashemite Kingdom on Monday.
Al-Daihani said that His Highness the Premier’s visit will coincide with the fourth session of the Higher Jordanian-Kuwaiti Committee, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries, which would result in signing 14 agreements, most of which focus on economic, trade and investment.
He added that the visit, an invitation by Jordan’s Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, will include a reception by Jordanian King Abdullah II and talks with Razzaz.
His Highness the Prime Minister is also to inaugurate the new Kuwaiti Embassy building in Amman.
The visit reaffirms deeprooted multi-faceted relations between the two countries and is considered an additional step towards buttressing those relations, under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah and King Abdullah II, Al-Daihani pointed out.
The delegation accompanying His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak comprises Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Trade, Education and Justice and other senior officials, he noted.
The delegation also includes several Kuwaiti businesspersons and representatives of the private sector, which confirms the interest in developing economic ties and opening up wider horizons for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Relations between Kuwait and Jordan, established in 1961, have progressed in many domains and the two countries are committed to 57 cooperation agreements covering many areas.
Meanwhile, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) has joined the signatories of a media charter promoting tolerance, which was announced at world government summit held in Dubai.
The document, which was endorsed by news agencies from around the world, aims to develop content that extols such virtues as tolerance, besides finding “common ground” between global news outlets, according to KUNA’s Deputy Director-General for the Editorial Sector and Editorin-Chief Saad Al-Ali.
The charter also deals with the exchange of content promoting tolerance and harmony as crucial elements of a flourishing society, KUNA’s Editor-in-Chief explained.
He went on to say these efforts are much needed at a time where such scourges as terrorism and extremism have grown rapidly, which can be dealt with through a unified media strategy.
The charter, which was the brainchild of the UAE’s staterun news agency WAM, is tantamount to a humanitarian initiative, its executive director Mohammad Al-Raisi pointed out.
“At such a tumultuous time, it is incumbent upon news agencies to deliver a positive message to the world,” he added.
The document first came to light at a world government summit in Dubai, which brought together 4,000 officials as well as economic experts from across the globe.
