17,000 bedoun students get assistance
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Executive Director of the of Special Educational Affairs Department and Deputy Executive Chairman of the Charity Fund Mansour Al-Mansour has announced the delivery of the final statements of the outstanding student cases, which will be covered by the fund to schools during the next week, after the end of the competent committee sifts through the applications from the students and declare the names of those eligible, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Mansour told the daily the number of students who have met the requirements after monitoring, follow-up and the examination of the special committee for requests for support from parents of Bedoun students has reached 17,000.
He pointed out the process of handing over the names of students who fail to pay the tuition fees will be followed by the deposit of payments of the money assessed in the accounts of all the private schools who are covered by the charity fund, which is about 52 schools.
He said the committee stopped receiving applications about two weeks ago, after the end of the registration period, which lasted more than three months at the Directorate of Education in the Mubarak Al-Kabir governorate.
He pointed out that the acceptance of applications was made according to the specific conditions, after the submission of documents indicating the existence of material problems based on the salary report and the disclosure of the bank balance of the head of the family.
Al-Mansour pointed out there were about 500 bedoun students who were covered by the charity fund and were transferred to the general education schools because they were recently excluded from joining the Ministry of Education schools such as the sons and grandsons of the military personnel and others.
Al-Mansour stressed that the competent committee was keen on accuracy and credibility and each case was studied separately based on documents provided by parents. He noted the department is keen to take appropriate and necessary measures in accordance with the regulations.
Al-Mansour stressed Kuwait’s keenness to ensure the right for education for needy groups and all means of support and cooperation for those who are affected. It is a religious, moral, educational and national duty.
He pointed out that this step comes within the framework of the humanitarian initiatives of Kuwait and to enhance the efforts of humanitarian action in line with the charitable vision adopted by the political leadership in order to achieve the public interest and the right of education for all.
