Dr Al Majdi presents lecture on ‘Anthropology and Civilization Studies’
Dr Khazaal Al Majdi delivers a lecture at Yarmouk Cultural Centre. Dr Khazaal Al Majdi presented a lecture on ‘Anthropology and Civilization Studies: the Development of the Science of Civilization in the 21st Century’ at the Yarmouk Cultural Centre last Monday evening as part of the Dar Al Athar Al Islamiyyah’s 24th cultural season.
Dr Majdi is a researcher in Science and History of Religions, Civilizations and Myths; a poet, author and playwright with a doctorate in ancient history. He was a professor at the University of Derna in Libya, University of Leiden – the Netherlands.
He is a member of the Union of Arab Writers and Historians and was the director of the Iraqi Center for the Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions.
In his lecture, he explained how civilization studies have made a qualitative leap after the emergence of anthropology and moreover, a special branch for cultural anthropology which expanded to include the civilizations in various eras in history, human and social sciences.
With the emergence of what is called the New History with all its disciplines and interests, he shared that the door has been open for a new comprehensive science in the 21st century.
