‘SAB’ makes recommendations after 2017-2018 account review

Bureau discusses findings with ministers

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11, (KUNA): After reviewing state body accounts and records for the 2017-18 fiscal year, the State Audit Bureau advised increasing support for internal oversight bodies, encouraging accountability and corporate governance and issuing deadlines for development projects.

This came as the SAB discussed its findings with ministers during a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, according to a SAB statement.

The talks also grouped the minister of finance, minister of commerce and industry, minister of oil and minister of electricity and water and state minister for economic affairs.

The results were based on the standards of the Vienna-based International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), a non-governmental organisation which provides governments with auditing advice and know-how.

Kuwait Transparency Society’s report into the reasons behind Kuwait’s two-spot leap on the annually-published Corruption Perceptions Index was also raised.
