Ruling overturned:
The Court of Cassation overturned the verdict of the Court of Appeals which had earlier fined a Kuwaiti woman for offending another person – one of those accused of involvement in the Al-Sadeq Mosque bombing but was acquitted later.
The plaintiff filed the lawsuit after the defendant tweeted her supposed complaint to God regarding the accused in the terrorist attack on Al-Sadeq Mosque. The plaintiff asked the court to obligate the defendant to pay him compensation.
Attorney Hawra’a Al-Habib, who represented the Kuwaiti woman in court, argued that her client did not commit any crime asserting the tweet did not offend anybody.
The court said the tweet was a prayer to God to protect Kuwait and keep it way from any evil.
