NITCAA MahaQuizzer ME:

Spearheading quizzing excellence in Kuwait, the National Institute of Technology Alumni Association (NITCAA) Kuwait Chapter, will hold the 7th International written quiz, on Friday, 15th February, 2019.

MahaQuizzer Middle East – Kuwait 2019 timings are from 2:00 pm to 3.30 pm and will be held across three venues in Kuwait viz. Indian Public School (IPS) – Salmiya, Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian School (FAIPS DPS) – Fahaheel, and United Indian School – Jleeb Al Shyoukh.

MahaQuizzer Middle East – Kuwait 2019, is an annual solo quiz researched and conceived by Karnataka Quiz Association (KQA). KQA has been successfully conducting MahaQuizzer simultaneously across several Indian cities since 2005. In India, this event attracts the who’s who in the quizzing circuit as contestants and has attained the status of “Mighty Quizzer” as its name literally translates.

In the last 7 years, MahaQuizzer has enticed many knowledge seekers in Kuwait too and this year the organizers expect massive participation from enthusiasts across all age groups.

NITCAA’s organizing team is led by Kannan K. (President), Prasanth Warrier (General Secretary), Jayadeep (Treasurer), and M.B. Vijayakumar (General Convener – MahaQuizzer).

MahaQuizzer Middle East – Kuwait 2019 convenor, M.B. Vijayakumar says, “It is an open general written quiz contest, for participants irrespective of age, nationality or affiliation. The only quizzing event in Kuwait where adults too can sharpen or rekindle their quest for knowledge. In fact, anyone with a passion and quest for knowledge is welcome.”

Gulf Voice of Goa:

Kuwait is set to host the first Gulf Voice of Goa – Konkani singing competition at Khaldiya University Auditorium on Feb 22.

The competition, open for Gulf residents of Goan origin aged 16 and above, will be organized by Goan Cultural Centre, Kuwait.

2 participants from each Gulf country will take part in the Grand Finale that will see the crowning of best Gulf Goan singers.

A number of gifts, trophies, and cash prizes will be awarded to the participants and winners.

The event is supported by well-known Goan NRIs in the Gulf – Carmo Santos, Agnello Fernandes and Bosco Leitao (Kuwait), Simon D’Silva (Doha, Qatar), Gabriel Crasto and Francis Correia (Bahrain), Gabby de Chandor (Dubai), Anthony Lourenco (Muscat) and Joe Fernandes (Saudi Arabia).

TMCA blood donation camp: Tamilnadu Muslim Cultural Association (TMCA), Kuwait, a non-profit and one of the oldest Indian Associations registered with the Embassy of India since 1995, is organizing Blood Donation Drive every year on 25th February, commemorating resident Kuwait’s National and Liberation Days celebrations. In its 24nd year (1995-2019) of existence and service, we have great pleasure to conduct our 14th year of Blood Donation Drive this year also on Monday, Feb 25. between 8 am till 1.00 pm at Jabriya Central Blood Bank.

Donating blood is an active way of helping others and the whole of society. One can almost say that blood is that magic potion which gives life to another person. Though we have made tremendous discoveries and inventions in Science we are not yet able to make the magic potion called Blood. Human blood has no substitute. Requirement of safe blood is increasing and regular

voluntary blood donations are vital for blood transfusion services.

Our body has 5.5 ltr of blood of which only 350 ml-450 ml of blood is taken depending upon weight of donor. Majority of healthy adults can tolerate withdrawal of one unit of blood. The withdrawn blood volume is restored within 24 hours and the hemoglobin and cell components are restored in 2

months. Therefore it is safe to donate blood every three months. After donating, you should have a snack and something to drink in the refreshments area. You can leave the site after 10-15 minutes and continue with your normal daily activities. Talking with the donor throughout all the stages is extremely important, as it helps donors to feel happy and also helps the first time donors to get rid of their fear.

The purpose to organize a blood donation camp is to motivate people to donate blood. So dear brothers and sisters donate blood and give someone a ‘gift of life.’
