KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which affirmed the right of a Kuwaiti citizen, who holds the position of Director of Private Education at Ministry of Education, to receive allowances and bonuses for supervision and invigilation.

The counsel to the citizen Lawyer Nasser AlSarhid explained that his client was appointed as an employee of the ministry, and rose through ranks to become the Director of Private Education. He was shocked when he was deprived of allowances and entitlements as a member of the Education Committee at Ministry of Education and Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. His client was also required to refund KD 5,499 that he purportedly collected in error, because he was not regarded as a member of the committee. After several requests for amicable settlement of the issue failed, he filed the lawsuit for legal redress.
