‘38 housing projects worth KD 1.3b in the offing’
Decline seen in number of applications: Al-Hubail
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: The Deputy Director-General of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare Ali Al-Hubail disclosed at the moment 38 housing projects worth more than 1.3 billion dinars are in the offing and that there is a decline in the number of housing applications which dropped to 94,713, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Hubail told the daily, Law No 2014/113 dealt with all obstacles, the most important of which was the allocation of land.
He said land has been provided for the establishment of more than 225,000 units in five giant cities. The focus now is on the ‘residential’ units and the distribution of plots of land and apartments, while the number of units distributed is 6,208 from November 2018 until the end of January 2019, according to the short-term plan of the authority.
He said the Al-Mutla’a project faced obstacles but have been overcome, notably the rocky nature of the land.
The total amount of explosives used so far is 12,000 tons, and the Chinese contractor’s claim that he did not know the nature of the land is a ‘misunderstanding’.
He said the authority is making every effort to remedy the delay in the second contract, stressing that the continued delay opens the possibility of applying the penalties provided for in the contract, including the withdrawal of the project.
Chief of Staff of Kuwait Army Lieutenant General Mohammad Al-Khedr and Undersecretary of National Guard Eng Hashem Al-Refaie stressed the importance of the two international defense exhibitions IDEX and NAFDEX.
They said this on the sidelines of the 14th IDEX Exhibition and 5th NAFDEX Exhibition held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
