Kuwait and Malaysia ‘discuss’ trade, investment cooperation
Malaysia to tap Kuwait religious expertise
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17, (KUNA): Kuwaiti Ambassador to Malaysia Saad Al-Asousi and Malaysia’s Ministry of Entrepreneur Development discussed cooperation in investment and trade, especially in wood and food items exports to Kuwait, said a statement.
In a statement to KUNA on Sunday, Al-Asousi said that he was briefed on the industries and products produced by the Terengganu state during his visit.
He added that he met with the ministry’s senior officials and discussed the export of more Malaysian products to the Kuwaiti market.
They also discussed organizing a visit by members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia and boosting cooperation between the two countries’ businessmen, the ambassador said.
Meanwhile, Malaysia is seeking to share expertise with Kuwaiti Islamic agencies, primarily Zakat House, said a Kuwaiti diplomat on Saturday.
The desire was reflected by the Malaysian side during a forum of ambassadors of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Malaysia Saad Al-Asousi told KUNA.
He quoted the Malaysian side as speaking highly of Kuwait’s religious experience, and requesting to capitalize on it.
The Kuwaiti Ambassador added that he had addressed the conferees about the significance of cooperation among OIC members to unify the ranks of Muslims worldwide.
Al-Asousi also emphasized that it is necessary to hold an international conference, together with an OIC ministerial gathering, to discuss religious endowments, Zakat (alms-giving), mosques and moderation.
