KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: It looks like that those who have obtained the Kuwaiti nationality using fraudulent methods are being identified one after another, mainly by the Residence Investigation Department which has announced that 308 people who acquired the nationality using fake documents have been identified. They are from one Iraqi tribe, reports Al-Rai daily.

They are five people. The father is said to have died and so also three of his ‘sons’ while the fourth son, who is in his 60s has been arrested and is referred for interrogations.

The story dates back to years ago, when a Kuwaiti married an Iraqi woman and because he was impotent, he added her 4 Iraqi sons to his file and they acquired the Kuwaiti citizenship. Since then the number has grown to about 308 descendants of the four men.

Security sources told the daily, the information received by the Residence Investigation Department about the big forgery case about a month ago led to the arrest of one of the forgers, who is in his 60s and recounted the story in full.

He said his Iraqi mother added him and his three brothers to the file of her Kuwaiti husband, so they became Kuwaitis. He added he is the only surviving sibling. He gave full details about the case during the investigation.

The sources said the four files of the brothers have been referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to take the necessary measures, especially in terms of the benefits enjoyed by them over the past years in the form of housing, education, medical treatment and employment.
